Texas Instruments has just launched its new video processor designed to be coupled with ARM processor, the TMS320DM368, part of his family DaVinci DM36x. Program hardware support for 1080p video streams on multiple channels.
The processor is aimed at HD camcorders, recorders and communication systems. It is not made for gaming or 3D and we should not find it in smart phones. It supports codecs moment VC1, MPEG2, MPEG4, MJPEG and H.264 to resolution of 1080p at 30 frames per second. Chip supports decoding of multiple HD video streams simultaneously. TI also offers ARM926EJ-S processor embedding this new GPU. These would be 40% more efficient than earlier generation, he said.
