While some motherboard manufacturers have already announced products based on AMD 880g chipset, the builder should, however, formalize it as April 26th next.
Relatively similar to the 785G and 890GX current north bridges, the 880g can work with the SB810 Southbridge and SB850. It includes some graphic support for DirectX 10.1 - a Radeon HD 4250 has 40 SP and clocked at 560 MHz and a video decompression engine UVD2.
Engraved in 55nm, AMD 880g supports RAID 0, 1, 0 +1 and 5, as well as HDMI 1.3 and DisplayPort standards. A codec HD Audio is also integrated and can therefore enjoy the 7.1 sound on the HDMI output. Overall, the 880g is a 785G chipset with the graphics a bit faster.
