Agnilux was in talks with Microsoft, Cisco and Texas Instruments, to raise funds. The purchase of Google may come as a surprise, not only because this seems to indicate a willingness to follow the giant footsteps of the Apple design its own chips, but also because the search engine would have made an offer significant enough that engineers to forego other investments during negotiations.
The exact terms of the acquisition remain unknown at this time, but the fact that a young startup has also decided not to use investment funds seems to indicate that the price set by Google is rather high.
The question now is what Google plans to make employees Agnilux. We know they were working on a server, that can certainly use Google, and they have the expertise for the ARM chip design that could include smartphones or netbooks Chrome Android OS. One thing is certain, though some still had doubts that Google plans to attack Apple on all fronts, this acquisition demonstrates that both companies are competing more than ever.
