Intel hit hard by launching its Core Arrandale: performance increase (Core i5) or declining consumption (Core i3), they have won and are selling very well, too well. According to the U.S. distributor Converge, the shortage has hit since March and continued in April, leading to an increase in the resale price of 20%.

A shortage is so pronounced unusual for Intel, whose production capacities are comfortable and do not depend on subcontractors. Converge think Intel should quickly find a solution if the launch of new ranges of manufacturers could be compromised. Intel customers could suddenly turn to the AMD. If Apple is symptomatic, while HP, Dell, Acer, Sony etc. have announced their laptops Arrandale in early January, Apple has waited until April, and remained faithful in part to Core 2 Duo.

It has been circulated shortly after the rumor of negotiations between Apple and AMD. Shane Rau, director of research at IDC, however, wants more reassuring. He said the shortage affects only the small brands, Intel has given priority to its major customers.
