Default AMD introduced 6-core chips for desktops

Trying to Advanced Micro Devices beat Intel in price with the processor 6-core Phenom II X6 latest desktop computers are published today 27/04/2010. 2 CPUs AMD launched X6 significantly cheaper than the 6-core processor Core i7-980XM Intel's latest desktop. Phenom II processors running at speeds X6 1090T 3.2 GHz, which costs 295 dollars and Phenom CPUs II X6 1055T running at 2.8 GHz speed, is $ 199. According to the website's price on Intel, Core i7-980XM is $ 999.

X6 The chip is targeted for gamers who are looking to buy high-performance desktop, said Adam Kozak, manager of platform marketing at AMD. This is the fastest chip in AMD's desktop processor line. Mr. Kozak acknowledged chip-980XM Intel Core i7 will be faster on some applications but have streaming processors; AMD Phenom II X6 has the advantage on price. The purchaser will be able to buy a gaming desktop with high-cost price only Intel chips.

X6 The chip includes the Core Technology AMD's new Turbo, which speeds up to 500MHz extra processor cores. With this technology, 1090T processor speed up to 3.6 GHz while the 1055T will be able to reach speeds of 3.3 GHz. X6 processor is part of Leo's AMD platform, including ATI 5000 graphics card for desktops. Users also will be able to connect to 6 screens with ATI 5000 system fitted. This graphics card supports DirectX 11, which delivers graphics performance and improved applications for the desktop Windows 7, Mr. Kozak said. The Phenom desktop chip II X6 will also work with the Nvidia graphics card.

    Hello
The coming weeks and months will see the launch of new six-core processors from both Intel and AMD. Indeed, the official roll-out of Intel's new 6-core "Westmere" processors is expected to take place later this month. While not the first 6-core chip to be introduced from Intel, the Core i7-980X is aimed at dual-socket platforms and is distinguished from the earlier 6-core Extreme Edition chips based on its fabrication using advanced 32-nanometer process technology.
Unlike earlier Core 2 processors though, the new chips comes with Hyper-Threading to effectively double the number of threads that can be executed per core. Preliminary pricing pegs the processor at just over $1,000 and is shown to run at 3.33GHz and with 12MB of built-in cache memory.
Not to be outdone, AMD announced on Tuesday that its first six-core processor designed for desktops--the Phenom II X6--will ship in Q2 this year. Specifics such as speed and size of its cache are not available though. With regards to the possible usage of these processors, at least one analyst thinks that the processing capabilities of six-core chips are meaningful only for a very small segment of the market that requires immense processing power.
Jim McGregor, chief technology strategist at In-Stat noted, "Does it mean something for the average consumer? No. Would it be absolute overkill? Yes." McGregor gave his opinion that dual and quad-core systems are "adequate" for most average consumers.
