AMD Fusion chips, combining an IGP and a CPU, should release in early 2011, but we learn that the second generation of chips will not reach before 2015.This was made clear vice-presidents of the company who said that architecture Fusion 2 will be different. In place of having one for the CPU die and die for the GPU, grouped in a single package, both will be fixed on a single die. He said the processor could control the depiction and calculation general, so much so that it will be impossible to differentiate the GPU from the CPU.
This is part of the new ideas of the company opinion that the GPUs are destined to die and that the calculations will be supported by the CPU. Without reject the fact that certain calculations are performed faster on the highly similar architecture of a GPU, it look like that AMD desires to merge the two architectures in a single chip that would cover all types of calculations.
