Microsoft will complain up security in the restore Windows Live Hotmail, counting tying a user's account to a specific computer, a company executive said.
Few Hotmail clients whose accounts have been lately hacked say Microsoft's safety improvements can't come too soon.
The updated Hotmail is slated to start rolling out June 15, and should reach all consumers inside six weeks, said, Hotmail's director of product management.
Microsoft is adding what Harp dub "proofs" to Hotmail to protect accounts besides hijacking, or let consumers more simply improve control if their account has been snatched by criminals. Among those proofs will be one that links a specific PC to a consumer's account.
"You'll be able to set your PC as a proof," said Harp, referring to connect between a computer and an account.
Another Web services, counting Facebook and Google's Gmail, previously offer alike ties to stymie account hijacking. Facebook, for instance, lately added a setting that lets users endorse the devices they use to log in; if an account is accessed from an unapproved device, the consumer is notified.
