Intel expects to establish a better presence in TVs and set-top boxes with the Google TV platform, but the company has to conquer main problem counting past failures and pricing worry, analysts said.

Google, beside with partners Intel, Sony and Logitech proclaim on Thursday the Google TV platform, which will blend broadcast TV and Internet keen on one interface.

Google will provide the software, and the service will be available presently this year in some Sony high-definition TVs and Blu-ray DVD players, for which Itel will provide the extremely optimized Atom CE4100 chip.

Intel's microprocessors power more than 80% of the computers global, but the company has yet to set up an occurrence in the TV space, despite numerous efforts to enter the market over the past decade, analysts said.

Preceding efforts by Intel and former partners to shift TV content into PCs were rejected by consumers, and now the company is changing tactics to get Internet content into TV sets, set-top boxes and DVD players.

The cost of Intel chips is as well measured reasonably higher than its competition, which might increase TV prices. There are low prized television sets that offer standard Web interfaces that might compete with Google TV offerings, which might influence Intel's efforts to reinstate itself in the market.

Intel has been trying to pursue main TV producer and user electronics companies to use the latest Atom CE4100 chip. The chip contain a processor core that can run at clock speeds of up to 1.2GHz and is capable of decoding two 1080p video streams.

The chips are in production, and the company has said it has received orders for more than a million CE4100 chips.
