Yahoo Mail and Messenger will power Nokia's mobile mail and chat services starting afterward this year, the companies supposed through a press conference.
It's the latest change to Nokia's Ovi Internet services, which comprise mail, chat and maps and used to comprise snap sharing and social networking services.
In adding, Nokia will become the supplier of Yahoo's maps and navigations service on PCs. Nokia currently owns Navteq, a mapping services company.
For Yahoo, the contract emerges to be an attempt at deepening its mobile arrives at in worldwide markets. "For us, this grouping has a particularly important application in the developing world," said, CEO of Yahoo, at a press conference to proclaim the partnership.
"Nokia has by far the strongest track record in this marketplace and now Yahoo gets to influence that position."
The contract will also help Yahoo get better its map offerings by using Nokia's Navteq mapping services. "As for Yahoo maps, a lot of you identify we haven't been focused a lot on our maps platform.
This modifies that," said Bartz. "By using Nokia's maps and Navteq services, it will be a much comfortable experience for consumers."
