Matias Duarte, previously vice president of human interface and consumer knowledge at Palm, has left to get a job with Google, marking one of the primary defections as Hewlett-Packard proclaim plans to purchase the stressed phone creator.

Duarte will serve as consumer experience executive for Android, Google said.

Previous Palm, Duarte worked for Helio, a mobile near network operator, and prior to that Danger. Danger's co-founder currently heads expansion of Android for Google.

Whereas Palm's WebOS phones have resist gaining a foothold in the spirited smartphone market, the UI has been extensively praised.

In April, HP proclaims plans to obtain Palm for .2 billion. HP said it planned to spend greatly in product development and marketing plans and that it would use WebOS to power tablet computers.

At the time of the purchase, HP praised the WebOS UI, saying that it "delivers unbelievable experience for true multitasking," according to, vice president of HP's personal systems group. The company also said it was eager to obtain Palm's team of engineering talent with strong leaders.

Palm's CEO, agreed to wait on with HP, but at the time of the purchase announcement HP refuses to say if he'd signed an agreement to wait for a particular era of time.
