Assault targeting Facebook consumer will carry on, and they might simply become even more hazardous, a safety investigator said.
In excess of the previous weekends, cybercriminals have released large-scale assault with rogue Facebook applications that contaminate consumer of the well-liked social networking site with adware that puts pop-ups on their monitors.
"There are restrictions to what Facebook can do to stop this," said a U.K.-based investigator for Web sense Security Labs. "I wouldn't be amazed to see one more assault this weekend. Clearly, they work."
According to Roger Thompson, the leader skill executive at antivirus vendor AVG Technologies, previous weekend's assault was concerning half the dimension of the single the weekend prior to.
Together features mail that used sex-oriented videos as lure to induce consumer to install a Facebook application and then download a supposed update to a free video player program. The download was really adware.
Thompson decided with Runald that the assault would remain coming. The hackers are "trying to create money and looking for ways to 'work' Facebook," said Thompson in an immediate message.
