Is the Android-powered Dell Streak, approaching this vacation, a tablet or a smartphone? The respond depends on who you inquire.

Dell Inc. calls it a tablet, but with a five-inch display it's almost half the size of Apple's 9.7-inch iPad.

Haze the lines still further; it also has a GSM radio for making calls, amazing but not frequently seen in tablets and surely not in the iPad.

Whereas it's essentially a large pocket-size device, the Streak is small sufficient to hold up to your ear to create a call, or it can be linked to a wired or wireless headset.

Dell in fact hasn't formally announced the size of the full device, just the size of the display, says Dell spokesman. "It doesn't look stupid holding it up to your head to talk," he said, noting he's been using the Streak for eight months as a phone and tablet and loves it.

Dell calls the Streak a tablet and not amazing also, while it's predictable to be used as mainly a data-centric device. In full scenery mode, a consumer can download Web pages and see them in full width, somewhat than having to move back and forth like one would with a smartphone.

Besides, the Streak can be used as a GPS device with Google Maps and Google Voice, he said.
