A U.S. Council committee has accepted an extensive cyber security bill that some critics have suggested would give the U.S. president the power to close down parts of the Internet through a cyberattack.

Senator Joe Lieberman and new bill sponsors have disprove the charges that Protecting Cyberspace as a National Asset Act provides the president an Internet "kill switch.

" In its place, the bill puts limits on powers the president previously has to reason "the final of some capability or stations for wire communication" in a time of war, as explain in the Communications Act of 1934, they spoke in a breakdown of the bill published on the council Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee Web site.

The committee generally accepted an amended version of the legislation by voice vote, a board lecturer spoke. The bill after that shifts to the Council floor for a vote which has not yet been planned.

The bill, introduced previous this month, would found a White House workplace for Cyberspace Policy and a National Center for Cyber security and Communications, which would employment with private U.S. corporations to make cyber security supplies for the electrical grid, telecommunications networks and extra dangerous infrastructure.
