A doubtful application flow on Facebook has involved almost 300,000 fans whose profiles might be used as launching pads for spam, as per the security analyst.

The application, known as "I will NEVER text again," attract Facebook users by contribution a video, said Graham Cluley, senior technology advisor for security dealer Sophos. When somebody hits on a link advertising the application, the application asks for consent to access their essential information and post to their Wall.

If user funding permission, link is then posted to the user's Wall and goes out in the person's news feed, which then catches as interpret by other friends and potentially added to their profiles, Cluley said.

So far the application hasn't done something hateful, and several Facebook applications inquire for the similar access to a person's information and Wall. But it has a few doubtful characteristics. Though it promises a video, the video does not work, Cluley said.

The application's publisher is scheduled as "Anne Klein," who has a Facebook profile with no photograph. "It looks like a false page," Cluley said. Cluley said Facebook doesn't appraisal applications as thoroughly as, for instance; Apple does for its iTunes application marketplace.
