Intel has no intension to defer its Celeron processor brand in 2011, the chip creator said in reply to a Taiwanese media report.

"The report is false Intel has no intention to stage out Celeron brand in 2011. Intel Celeron processors carry on to supply an inexpensive computing answer for basic computing needs," wrote Barry Sum, an Intel spokesman in Hong Kong, in an e-mail reply to questions.

Intel's comments came after a statement, based on unidentified sources in Taiwan's hardware industry that chip creator intention to discontinue distribution processors under Celeron brand next year.

Intel has long used Celeron brand for cheap processors found in low down desktops and laptops, and the corporation's recent worth list have equally desktop and mobile versions of the chips.
