Intel introduced a six-core Core i7 desktop processor targeted at devotee like gamers, whereas as well making cheap some desktop and server chips by equal to 48%. The corporation proclaimed the Core i7-970 processor, which will perform at 3.2GHz and contain 12MB of L3 cache. This is the second six-core desktop chip released by Intel after Core i7-980X Extreme Edition, which was released in March.
Intel provides standard Core i7 processors for high end desktops and Core i7 Extreme Edition processors, which are not so cheap chips targeted at precise users like hardcore gamers who might be searching for great performance. The Core i7-970 is an effort to drop down six-core chips and quick performance from Extreme Edition to the main Core i7 array, an Intel spokesman said.
The new Core i7-970 must bring a new level of performance to Core i7 array. Intel's 980 X Extreme Edition processor has attracted lots of benchmark crowns, outperforming still the corporation's Xeon server chips. The Core i7-970 is in units of 1,000. The processor is prepared using 32-nanometer manufacturing process, which helps increase system performance balance to chips based on previous architectures.
