IBM this week rolled out a security device it says will protect banking and maintain cyber-criminals from being able to create fake funds transport yet from a cooperation PC.
The IBM technology, known Zone Trusted Information Channel (ZTIC), is a UBS device that utilizes X.509 certificate based encryption to start a trusted channel with bank servers that regularly handle funds transports and payments requests to ensure these requests are genuine.
The six greatest threats to US cyber security The password protected ZTIC device is connected into a PC to allocate the banking customer to confirm logins and approve any transport by clicking a "yes “or "no “button related to payment particulars. Use of ZTIC doesn't restore Internet banking applications but just intercedes with strong security at critical instant an online choice has to be made regarding authorizing a swap of currency or not.
"The user's PC is completely necessary, it's where Internet banking application runs," says Dr. Doug Dykeman, manager of the IBM research "Blue Z" team in Zurich, Switzerland, which came up with ZTIC. "We don't desire to vary that."
