Hewlett Packard is in search of trademark name "PalmPad" for PC hardware plus mobile devices, supplying a firm suggestion that a tablet computer based on HP's buy of Palm and its WebOS is in development.

HP might be organizing a tablet intended mostly to fight with Apple iPad, putting it on sale probably at the end, industry analysts and bloggers said. HP didn't mention. But, a current trademark application by HP to U.S. Patent and Trademark Office converses for itself, as per the industry experts. Trademark applications are frequently equivalent to getting a trademark, except the similar trademark is found to be in use by another party, noted Jack Gold, an analyst at J. Gold Associates.

Gold said HP is predictable to construct a WebOS tablet, using OS in the Palm Pre and Pixi smartphones, and also trademark filing gives more credibility to that thought. "It's not far-fetched to believe that a variation of WebOS is all set for a tablet," he said.

Palm was supposed to contain developing a tablet device prior to HP proclaimed plans to buy poorly Palm for $1.2 billion on April 28, Gold said.
