IBM takes over the storage specialist Storwize and therefore its data compression technology. It allows you to package data in real time. It aims to reduce storage costs by up to 80 percent.

The real-time compression of Storwize goes to IBM, for the two companies have agreed that IBM shall Storwize. The acquisition is expected to close in the third quarter of 2010; financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed. Storwize has about 100 customers from different industries.
