The German-based SAP Company is accepting extra open-source application in addition to contributing extra of its own code back into the society, company officials said. "At present we didn't contain an open-source plan," said Claus von Riegen, SAP's program director of technology standards and open source. "That has distorted over the previous two years or so."
In 2005, Shai Agassi, companies supervisory in charge of the company's product group, expressed emotions over using open-source application; however, the company has warmed to the thought. Surely, SAP's chief competitor Oracle, for example, is a lively, if contentious, supporter and sponsor of a lot of open-source application projects. In 2007, SAP start on contributing considerably to the Eclipse project, and in October 2009, the company united with Apache Software Foundation. In 2009, SAP added 1.8 million lines to the Eclipse project, making it the third-largest business contributor.
