Google yesterday denied news that they are discussion with Verizon for a contract that could weaken Net objectivity. According to source, Google and Verizon, both major web companies, about finalizing a contract that would have Verizon some online content more quickly than other content if the content's maker pay for it. YouTube, which is owned by Google, could very much benefit by having its bandwidth-heavy videos get priority dealing.
However, Google spokeswoman Mistique Cano wrote, “source is wrong," in an e-mail. "We have not had any discussion with Verizon about paying for carriage of Google traffic. We stay as entrust as we forever have been to an open Internet." Google, though, has not denied being in debate with Verizon and other Internet group about Net neutrality problems in general. Verizon also confirmed that it has been in constant talks with Google and the U.S. Federal Communications Commission.
