Texas Instruments yesterday declared it will begin shipping a new dual core chip for gadgets like smart phones and tablets later on this year. The OMAP4430 chip will carry binary the performance of present single core chip from the OMAP3series. This will let software to presses quicker on mobile devices, said Robert Tolbert, director of product administration for the OMAP business phones at Texas Instruments.
The chip will also carry characteristics resembling to 1080p high-definition movies viewing to portable devices, Tolbert said. It will process at a clock speed of up to 1GHz and set down to 50% less consumption than its antecedent.
A lot of the chip's development appears from a new processor design being executed in OMAP4430, Tolbert said. The chip is stand on Arm's latest Cortex-A9 processor design, while TI's previous OMAP3 chips are stand on Cortex-A8. Motorola's lately declared Droid X phone, for instance, uses the Cortex OMAP3630, which is based on Cortex-A8.
