If you consider the figures published by the institute IDC, sales of microprocessors have progressed by 3.6% in the second quarter 2010 compared to the previous quarter. Intel continues to dominate the market with 80.7% market share (81% in the first quarter), as against 19% for AMD (18.8% previous quarter).
AMD has developed particularly in the market for mobile CPUs, from 12.1% to 13.7% market share. However, the markets for desktop CPUs, the market share of the eternal competitor of Intel settle down from 28% to 27.3%, while at the same time Intel gained 0.5% (two of 72.2% market share).
The decline of AMD is more sensitive on the market for servers, since the CPU manufacturer loses 3.3% (6.5% market share), while Intel has now reached 93.5%. For the record, we may note that the CPU VIA represent 0.3% of the overall CPU.
