Adobe now patched two vulnerabilities in its well-liked Reader PDF viewing application, including one that went open previous month at the annual Black Hat security conference. Two weeks ago, company assures to secure the Black Hat vulnerability with an urgent situation, or out-of-band security update; previous this week it situate today as the release date.
That vulnerability was reveal by investigator Charlie Miller at July's Black Hat event in Las Vegas, where he verified how the open-source BitBlaze toolkit might boost bug hunting productivity. Miller, an analyst with Baltimore-based Independent Security Evaluators and a famous vulnerability researcher, stated the bug was in Reader's and Acrobat's font parsing.
Adobe recognizes of the bug previous to Miller took it public, though, as one more researcher Google security engineer Tavis Ormandy had before reported the vulnerability. Today Adobe credited Ormandy, not Miller, with finding the flaw.
