SAP client Airgas stated yeaterday that its extremely custom-made execution of the vendor's ERP (enterprise resource planning) application is appearing like a major succeeder. Airgas' proclamation was no uncertainty welcome news for SAP, adopting late reports about disturbed ERP projects in Jefferson County, Ala., and Marin County, Calif. In the second case, Marin County officials plan to get rid of SAP's software and substitute it with an alternate, conceiving that avenue will be far less valuable than fixing the issue.
But Airgas, which sells medical, industrial and particularized gases and related instrumentation, has had a different experience. Its SAP implementation, which started in 2008, is awaited to gather between $75 million and $125 million inadequate operating income each year, to improved sales, improve price management and meagerer operating costs, according to a statement. Airgas expects detecting even more fields of gain as the project goes forward, it adds.
