IBM is gaining OpenPages, a privately held company that makes software intentional to assist companies simplify risk management and corporate compliance actions. Terms of the deal were not exposed. OpenPages' software combines data relating to compliance and risk management (including operational risk, financial controls management, IT risk and inner audits) to produce an enterprise-wide perspective of where a company is exhibited and how risks might impact hereafter performance.
The software can spotlight repugnance in risk and performance goals. For instance, a manufacturer with fast-growing revenue goals for an issuing market may risk disobedience with regional regulatings or cost overruns linked with doing business in a remote location. The OpenPages software would give an aggregate view of the business opportunities and risks related with the expansion, IBM says. IBM's late study of 1,900 global CFOs and senior finance leaders detected that two out of three companies encountered substantial risk events within the past three years. Survey respondents suggested risk management has risen in priority by 93% since 2005.
