Google Code has evolved over the last few months one of the largest hosting platforms for open-source projects. However, there was a big hurdle to overcome, because Google did not allow any license. This shortcoming we have now been removed. From now supports Google Code, all licenses, the Open Source Initiative (OSI) have been sanctioned by. Thus, now, almost all open source developers use the offer of the search engine company.
Google had some licenses excluded deliberately because they wanted to make a stand against the escalating number of available open-source licenses. Even projects that used only for certain parts of a different license, were rejected by Google. But that is now closing. The only exceptions are public-domain projects that are still only allowed with special permission.
