Wikipedia founder Jimmy D. Wales will be honored this Saturday in Munich with the Cultural Award of the Eduard Rhein Foundation. The 44-year-old Americans get the prize worth 20 000 euro prize for his idea that all people over the Internet to provide an open encyclopedia, told the donors. Wales founded Wikipedia had about ten years ago with Larry Sanger.

"There are very many people who have changed the world. I'm just a part of it," Wales said in a recent interview with the news agency dpa. From Forbes Magazine, he was elected three years ago to twelfth of the 25 best-known internet personalities. A year earlier he had received from Knox College in Illinois, an honorary doctorate. Every month, over 400 million people here.

The Deutsches Museum in Munich on Saturday, a technology and a youth prize will be awarded. The Eduard Rhein Foundation honors since 1976, outstanding research and development achievements in the field of radio, television and information technology. Eduard Rhein founder Rudolph (1900-1993) was founder of the television magazine and author of the "shorcut" children's books.
