TDK Corp has revealed a 1TB optical disc that can be utilized in programs as diverse as home recording data backup and broadcasting Nikkei Electronics reports .

The fresh disc characteristics 16 recording layers all with 32GB of capability per side. That's four times the maximum number of layers on a Blu-ray disc and 20 times the total storage ability of the norm Blu-ray disc.

Both discs also utilize beams with the similar many aperture of 0.85. As a result TDK estimates that many existing Blu-ray inventing methods will also apply for its new disc.
