Western Digital has started the distribution of SATA disks with the maximum capacity currently available worldwide, adding to the family WD Caviar Green hard drives that reach the exceptional storage capacity of 3 terabytes (TB) on a single disk. WD is leading the market for SATA hard drives in terms of capacity, thanks to an areal density of 750GB-per-platter technology and Advanced Format (AF).WD Caviar Green are an environmentally friendly storage solution with our advanced WD Green Power technology, which reduces energy consumption while maintaining a low temperature level for better reliability and less noise.

The WD Caviar Green from 2.5 TB to 3 TB and are designed to be used as external storage and secondary storage in next-generation PC-based 64-bit systems. Currently, the discs with a capacity over 2.19 TB have limitations in hardware, firmware and software. To meet the new needs of users who need to integrate successfully with larger capacity drives, WD WD Caviar Green combines the 2.5-and 3 TB with an Advanced Host Controller Interface (AHCI) compatible with Host Bus Adapter (HBA) that will allow the operating system to use a driver known to support suitable for larger capacity disks. The WD Caviar Green drives with capacities from 2.5 TB to 3 TB and are available at authorized dealers. The recommended retail price for the WD Caviar Green to 2.5TB is 135 euro, while the 3TB model is 173 euro, excluding VAT. The warranty is 3 years.
