Google came under investigation last May when it was discovered that the cars not only photographing streets and places of interest but also captured and recorded signals from wireless networks that were on their journey.

On the occasion Google admitted the mistake, noting that it had been a bug in the software designed to gather information. Also stated that it was just pieces of information as the IP addresses of private networks.

Although investigations revealed that in most cases the information was fragmented, also captured occasionally complete email messages and URLs in addition to passwords.
