Microsoft has released the code of the functional programming language F # as a completely open source. The company has made version 2.0 of the F # compiler and core libraries are available under open source Apache 2.0 license, according to an article posted on his blog Don Syme. Mr Syme is a researcher at Microsoft, has developed and maintains the F # code.
"This version of Microsoft's commitment to consolidate the F # implementation," said Syme wrote. Previously, the code was available under license from Microsoft to share source. For a time, allowing Microsoft to download free versions of binary (ready to run) as a standalone package or as a plug-in for Microsoft Visual Studio. With the release of F # 2.0, the development team will move to the model they call the code drop, including new versions of the compiler code library will be released with new version language. This code is present as part of the F # PowerPack.
F # is a functional programming language. Programs written in languages other than function of almost all procedural language (like Java) in which they are written as a series of mathematical functions. Although considered more effective than the standard procedural language, many traditional functional language (such as Haskell and OCaml) are notoriously difficult to use. F # functional model updates traditional by adding modern programming concepts such as object-oriented programming OOP (object oriented programming).
