The application of microprocessors has slowed in the third quarter. Market demand for processors has been weak in July and August said Shane Rau director of semiconductor research for the PC. The PC vendors have responded with cuts to the low demand for new PC systems which consequently led to the cutting of orders for the CPU.
Intel, the largest chip maker in the world, has lost market share in the third quarter. The company has a global market share of 80.4%.Advanced Micro Devices has increased its stake to 19% and Via Technologies has been awarded a 0.4% market share.
It is expected that the demand in Q4 CPU will increase as will come out solutions based on Intel's Sandy Bridge and AMD Fusion.
