Microsoft is back to talk about tablet PCs and some statements made by its CEO Steve Ballmer issued during a meeting at the London School of Economics. The CEO of the Redmond company said that the first Tablet PCwith the Windows operating system will be introduced shortly and will go on sale later this year.

Ballmer did not provide further details on the matter for which some have interpreted his words as the announcement of a direct involvement of Microsoft. The prevailing hypothesis is rather that Ballmer was referring to one of several projects announced by Microsoft partners whose development could be coming to an end.

Whatever the formula that Microsoft will follow, the entry of Windows systems in the area of tablet is considered a priority for the company for the time remained cut off from this market segment that sees the Apple iPad as the undisputed protagonist and Android as a solution in the ascendant.
