Apple has expanded its company site in Cupertino in 1998 acres of land to buy. As Mercury News reported, total land area has the roughly doubled. Seller of the property is Hewlett-Packard. On it is the campus for decades, the computer manufacturer. In summer, HP announced that it abandon the site and within the next two years at the company headquarters in Palo Alto to join his business.
Cupertino city officials expressed their regret over mercury news about the departure of HP but also declared that they were excited that Apple is the biggest landowner in the city now. "We are very proud that Apple has its headquarters in our city," said Mayor Kris Wang. "Apple is not just any company. It is the company in general." The community hopes that Apple has a million more annual tax revenue than it has been collected by HP and its employees.
How much Apple paid for the land to HP is not known. Agents go from residents of up to $ 300 million. Apple plans on the former HP campus, located just over a further 0.2 acre site, which Apple had bought in 2006, set up new offices. "We have now 57 buildings in Cupertino, and our campus is bursting at the seams," said Apple representative Steve Down Ling. "The new offices give us more space for our employees as we grow." Last year, Apple had hired 12,300 new employees. Overall, the company employs 46 600 employees, most of them in Cupertino.
