According to documents that were posted on IBM’s website recently, IBM is going to launch the next version of its flagship Java application server, Websphere 8, on June 17th. The company stated that the application server would be made available to public by the means of electronic delivery options on June 17. This decision was revealed through a software announcement on April 5th. It was stated that on July 22nd the media packs will be issued. Last year, IBM had released a beta edition of its version 8.
To offer the complete support to the latest enterprise Java Standard and Java EE6, this is going to be the first edition of the server. With the capability to run the IBM installation manager, it is also going to become the first version of the software to do so. According to Steve Robinson, a U.K Websphere consultant and writer of an introductory book about Websphere 8 administration, the company has started packaging with the help of most of its software. Websphere 8 is more or less a fine-tuning of the code base as IBM has incorporated various dynamic changes in the overall functioning of the software.
According to Robinson, Websphere 8 has been developed with strong repair work and smart thinking when compared to the way in which the version 7 was developed way back in 2008. The software and also its beta edition are apparently loading really fast, as revealed by Robinson. According to Robinson, several fascinating new abilities have also been added to this particular version as can been seen in its features. More specifically organizations that need to install the software across various hardware platforms, the installation framework should be friendly enough to do the overall deployment.
A Java application can be placed in a live folder due to the brand new ‘drag and drop’ feature that will be very user friendly. Testing has to be done extensively by developers. It will be much more simplified with this particular feature and make the application functional within no time. To integrate Websphere’s internal Java messaging features with IBM’s well-known enterprise service bus software, a considerable amount of work would be done well. The IBM enterprise service bus software has been named as Websphere MQ.
According to Robinson, attempts are on right now to bring about a seamless interface between the existing MQ infrastructure and the Websphere application’s server based messaging infrastructure. In order to offer the trading of data in an easier manner, this interface will be able to help Websphere applications as well as other applications that are relevant to the process. Though the June 17 release date has not yet been confirmed by officials, IBM representatives have verified the announcement made on the company’s website as genuine. IBM executives will most probably reveal more information about the upcoming Websphere release next week when IBM will be holding its conference for IBM middleware, called Impact.
