The market share stats of IE 9 are outfor June. Unfortunately, the news is not so good for Microsoftbecause the usage of Windows 7 is getting crumbled among its userswho are now switching on to IE9. However, the truth is quitedifferent to what it appears on the surface.

The raw data states that the usage ofInternet Explorer is around 53.68%. The usage of Firefox also droppedslightly. On the other hand, the usage of Google Chrome and Safarihas seen a sharp increase in the past few months. However, GoogleChrome went up in the same proportion as IE came down, thus grabbinga market share of around 13.11%. Safari too has risen by two tenthsof a percentage.

Putting further emphasis on the datareveals that IE8 decreased by 1.21%, IE7 by 0.46% and IE6 by 0.18%.While, the Firefox crashed down by 0.38 and reached to 10.46% ofmarket share. However, the ray of hope comes to Microsoft in the formof IE9 which has gained 1.44% points and has reached 5.63% share inthe market. The IE9’s market share is only half of that of Firefoxand two-thirds of Chrome 12. Yet, it must be kept in mind thatIE is only compatible with Windows and the users of IE9 are limitedto Vista and Windows 7. However, its rivals have a vast audience thatconsists of Windows, plus Mac OS X, and Linux users.

In an IE post, Roger Capriotti, said “IE9 hasnow become the most popular modern browser on Windows 7 in the US.IE9 is now just second overall in the US behind IE8 with 21.8 percentusage share as of the last day of June. Worldwide, IE9 usage share onWindows 7 is exiting the month with 17.0 percent usage share forJune.”

In the meantime, Microsoft is alsomoving ahead with its 10th version of Internet Explorer. It had alsolaunched the Platform Preview for IE10 a few days ago. Thus,Microsoft is definitely crumbling a bit, all due to its policiesregarding IE9 and limiting its audience.
