A web statistics today claimed that the internet share of Chrome and Safari has increased in the last month and the two of them have taken a good deal of Internet Explorer’s usage share. On the other hand, the share of Firefox remained the same for the fourth continuous month.
In the meanwhile, Microsoft too used the data of California-based Net Applications to brag on the success of IE9 on Windows 7. In June, the usage of IE fell by six-tenths of a percentage. It is the fourth successive month when the Windows 7 has fallen down and decreased in popularity coming to an all time low of 53.7%. However, the drop in the month of June was less in comparison to the previous three months. At the current rate, IE9 is expected to fall under 50% usage share by the end of the year. This majority share has been the forte of Microsoft for more than 10 years.
Mozilla’s Firefox elongated a share of 21.7% in the last month while Opera Software fell three-tenth of a percentage and came to an all time low of 1.7% in the last four years.
As a matter of fact, Apple's Safari and Google's Chrome were the only two browsers who have been successfully in increasing their usage share in 2010.
Apple Safari has been successful in climbing to two-tenths of a point to 7.5% which is an accumulation of all its Macs, iPhones and ipads users. Chrome too has shown an increase of six-tenths of a percentage by the end of June and has been successful in grabbing 13.1% of usage share.
According to recent trends, Chrome is expected to rise to 15% by the end of October this year. Microsoft in a statement announced, that the introduction of IE9 in mid march has no contribution in the downfall in the usage share of windows7.
Roger Capriotti, the head of IE marketing at Microsoft quoted, “IE9 has now become the most popular modern browser on Windows 7 in the U.S.” According to California-based Net Applications, the usage share of IE9 is 19.6% in US and 15.6% globally.
Microsoft has often bragged about the ultra modern browser of IE9. The browser is capable enough to support HTML 5 and other web applications.
However, the popularity of IE9 is still lower than IE8 on the Windows 7. This phenomenon has been recorded not only in U.S. but throughout the globe. Across the world, the usage share of Windows 7 is 47.9% which is more than thrice that of IE9.
