The technology world is filled with rumors about the future of Microsoft after the company’s recent statements at Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference (WPC 2011). One of the rumor suggests of a possibility that Microsoft is planning to use the Windows code on every device ranging from smart phones, tablets, PC’s , TV’s and many more. Another rumor suggests that Microsoft is undergoing a difficult situation, and therefore trying to incorporate Windows in everything. However, which one of these has more weight is still not revealed.

These supposes were put forth after Microsoft Windows Phone President Andy Lees gave a speech and revealed that Microsoft programs to have a “unified system” for all the devices. According to Lee, “One of the key important things here, though, is the change that's yet to happen, but it's about to happen, and that is the getting together of these devices into a united ecosystem, because at the core of the device itself it's possible to be reciprocal across phones, PCs, and TVs, and even other things, because the price drops dramatically. Then it will be a single ecosystem. We won't have an ecosystem for PCs, and an ecosystem for phones, one for tablets. They'll all come together. And just look at the opportunity here.”

Hundreds of people are sampling to reflect what he intended by “unified system.” It is in fact a cloudy and doubtful phrase, which unlike people translated in product ways. Allowing to Mary Jo Foley, the rumors have already been in the market for quite some time that Microsoft has plans to make their “Windows Everywhere” mantra a truth. Lee’s report has backed the sooner ventures in this context.

In addition, a blogger also reported on the thisismynext site about a rumor, which states that Microsoft will abandon the Windows name forever. “Our sources also tell us that Microsoft is seriously considering ditching the “Windows" brand name...The idea is to rebrand this new super-OS with something that better fits with Redmond's vision of the future.”
However, it is difficult for Microsoft to give up the Windows name completely. They would in fact put in a Windows variant code on all the devices. At QPC 2011, the CEO of Microsoft Steve barn had told in his keynote that, “Windows is the backbone product of Microsoft. Windows PCs, Windows Phones, Windows slates. Windows Windows Windows Windows Windows.”

Therefore, it would be foolish to think that Microsoft will ever abandon Windows as it is their winning horse, which has shown some amazing results to the company.
