Basic features
Scroll direction – Probably, thefirst feature that you might have observed in the Lion video is aboutthe default scroll direction which has changed. In the past versions,whenever a mouse is scrolled upwards, the content moves downwards andvice versa. However, in the new version, the content moves in thesame direction as the scroll wheel. You can change it according toyour preference. If you have an iOS device you would definitely lovethis new setting. However, if you are not comfortable with it andwant to change it, then you can go to the Trackpad, scroll it andzoom the preferences. Choose the preference of trackpad or mouseaccording to your choice. For trackpad uncheck the scroll directionwhile for a mouse uncheck and move the content in the direction offinger movement while scrolling or navigating the text. As a matterof fact, if you are not using a non Apple pointing device, thenscroll wheel might not work. In this case, try the scroll reverser,in the same way as Snow Leopard.
Scroll bar display – In fact, Liondisplays the scroll bar only when you start scrolling as a defaultoption. Having a scroll bar is a better option in web page as itgives an idea about the length of the web page. To make the scrollbar display permanent, click the general preferences and selectalways on show scroll bars section. Nevertheless, if you have astandard Apple mouse then you will be able to view scroll bar at alltimes.
Inertia scrolling – If you have aniPhone or iPad you might surely have observed that even after thescrolling is stopped, the content keeps on moving due to inertia. Youmight surely love to have the old way in which the contents stoppedmoving as soon as the scroll wheel is stopped. To change thissetting, go to Universal Access preferences by clicking on the mouseand trackpad. Thus, in the scrolling menu, choose without Inertia.
Gestures – If you are using trackpad,you might be already aware of a variety of gestures like switchwindows, zoom in or out and other features. These gesture features inLion are pretty different from those in Snow Leopard. You can changethese gestures by checking the Trackpad preferences on more Gesturestab. Some of these features are pretty different to what you are usedto.
Relaunch the applications and windowsat startup – Some of the features of Lion are really great like therelaunching features, which help you in gaining access to theapplications which you were using when you shut the Mac last time.
The Finder Features of Lion include AllMy Files, AirDrop, Finder status bar, Change Finder toolbar icon sizeand display, The missing Library folder, “Search For” smartfolders. The browser also comprises of LaunchPad and Mission ControlDock icons, Dashboard, Adding spaces, and assigning applications tospecific desktops. In addition the Mail features of Lion includeMail's three-column layout.
