New York Times reportedon 14th Nov, 2011 that Google is operating a secretresearch lab in San Francisco where they develop robots andre-imagine the future technology.
Actually, the lab knownas Google X offers a unique platform for researchers to developtechnologies which can lead to development of various inventions likeelevators in space in the coming future. The inventions in Google Xmay also play a very important role in people’s day to day lifetoo.

According to latestdiscoveries, the Google co-founders namely Sergey Brin and Larry Pageare known to be deeply involved in the project. The latest reportsabout Google X have revealed that Larry page had started working on Xlong before he took as the executive of the company in this spring.
Unnamed sources of thenewspapers have stated that numerous scientists are working on morethan 100 projects in the Google X lab. Out of the numerous projectsin Google X, many of them are focused on the development of robots,which could be capable of going to workplace while their owners stayat home. It is quite likely that the robots would be able to care forthe humans.

It is also known thatGoogle X is working secretly on the development of light bulbs aswell as coffee makers which can be switched on and off with the aidof Google’s Android phones. New York Times has added that the selfdriving car by Google introduced to the world last year was developedin Google X lab. Since its introduction, the car has already drivenhundreds of miles across California.

Actually, the developmentof a robot car by Google was quite different to the general nature ofthe company. Google researchers are best known for developing theomnipresent Google Search engine. They have also developed otherservices, like Google maps, its social networking site Google + aswell as Android technology.
However, Google hadpreviously announced that it is willing to explore other technologiesas well. Sebastian Thrun, a well known software engineer in Googlehad written in his blog last year, “We've always been optimisticabout technology's ability to advance society, which is why we havepushed so hard to improve the capabilities of self-driving carsbeyond where they are today.”

Thrun is one of the topexecutives in Google Inc. The New York Times has also reported thatGoogle is planning to develop an autonomous car on their own withoutthe help of automobile manufacturers.
Till date, Google has notyet responded on anything about Google X.
