Default Internet Explorer Down, But Set for a Recovery

LL Cool J quoted, “Don’t call it acomeback.” Internet Explorer has already been giving off its marketshare to rival browsers especially Google Chrome. This is called asthe calculated risk by Microsoft and much more changes are likely toappear in the year 2012.According to the statistics reported byNet Application, IE has lost at least 11percentage of the marketshare in the year 2011.

Thus, they finished the year hazardously. However, interestingly, Internet Explorer 9 jumped to an 11percentage more popularity which is undoubtedly an important thingfor Microsoft. Yet, on checking the whole picture ofmarket share by browser, Internet Explorer undoubtedly lost heavilyin the year 2011. Firefox was definitely down yet stable but on theother hand Google Chrome jumped around eight percent and closed at anall time high of 19.11percent at the closure of 2011.

Actually,Chrome consumed the market share lost by both Internet Explorer andFirefox. This for sure is wonderful news forGoogle Chrome as the trend may continue in the future as well.Howsoever, if you check out the underlying trend of browser migrationfrom Internet Explorer to Chrome, it is quite possible that the trendmay change and take a reverse course as Windows 7 keeps on displacing Windows XP.

Microsoft had taken a decision to makeits flagship browser well-suited with the latest versions of Windows Operating System. This OS include Windows Vista and Windows 7.Similarly, Microsoft has also got involved in a highly aggressive campaign to destroy outdated Internet Explorer 6. Thus, when you combine both theaspects, you will have a situation where many users who have beenusing IE 6 for a long time allude to leave the browser but do nothave the option of switching over to IE9 as they are still using theWindows XP. Instead, they can switch to IE8 which is highlypreferable to Microsoft.Yet, it is true that Windows 7 isrising at a good speed along with IE 9. It is true that it was a hugegamble on the part of Microsoft to bet on its future to make IE9compatible with Windows XP.

Apparently, based on the fact that IE 9has gained four percent more than what IE on the whole lost, whichindicates that the gamble has worked in the favor of Microsoft.According to Roger Capriotti fromMicrosoft, IE9 is doing exceptionally well when viewed through thelens of Windows 7. It has already surpassed both Chrome as well asFirefox on Windows 7 and is trailing behind Internet Explorer 8. In afew days, it will easily surpass IE8 as well as beat the popularityof Windows 8 and IE 10, in future.

While the Windows 7 is busy stealingthe market share of XP, IE 9 will keep on attaining more and moremarket share. It will soon overtake the whole Internet Explorer andreverse the downward slide making a recovery in 2012.
