    Default HD partitions

    Hello.

To see how your computer is not really mine, but I use that I give em a work with which it is convivo14 or 15 hours a day. The problem I have is that I have enough information on it, besides having software under Windows environment using bait on a regular basis. That is no problem with the simulators, but the problem is mainly that I want to install GNU-Linux and let you use Windows that is not always necessary. How can I make the partitions with everything I have installed without losing data?

Is very probably that information is lost by making the partitions with Partition Magic? And of course -> How can I share Excel files, Word, etc opening it in Linux, but I have arrived in the mail or what I created in my work?

Anyway, tell me to think and recommend.

    Thanks in advance.

Edited to say that my HD is 80GB and I have only 30 GB occupied.

I think that can make the partitions go smoothly erase data, files, etc ... No?

I'll give you my opinion. If you say that after are junta data (i.e. defrag emendation) and shrink (reduce size) the current Windows partition does not lose any data and, most importantly, do not send them adrift across the partition table that would have Formatting ......... then all that you do not have any problem in what you say. Linux goes well in any place, is not as capricious as windows. Doc files can be executed without any problems with Linux. The excel I can not confirm. From you to the Linux partition and data windows with no problems. Not vice versa.

But you have another option for you as it is less risky and virtualized Linux. Not touch any partition but it would be a "directory" of windows.

If your personal computer would invite you to try the first case after making a good backup, but with a work.
