Thread: Ubuntu friendly build?

Trying to find out if my current build will be functional with Ubuntu. Here's the hardware, I'm including the entire build as I don't know what parts are/are not affected:

NZXT Alpha case
Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 processor

GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3R

OCZ Reaper HPC Edition 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800

SAPPHIRE 100265HDMI Radeon HD 4830 512MB 256-bit GDDR3

LG Black 22X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 16X

Western Digital Caviar GP WD5000CSRTL 500GB 7200 RPM

Rose will RG700-S12 Single +12v Rail 80 PLUS Certified 700W.

Yeah, it should work

If ubuntu doesn't work Fedora almost definitely will.

I have a 4870 1GB working fine on Fedora and ubuntu boots up from the live CD, so it should be ok.

If the 4830 doesn't work an nvidia 8600GT / 9600GT or equivalent will work.
