Default Installer claims another installer active

Downloaded Adobe Flash Player application with directions to set up as plug-in to Firefox - necessary admin sign-in, which I did, then when I clicked 'Install', received error note 'only one installer can be running at a time' - checked, no additional installer active at the time - tried to double-check by executing Synaptic, received error message instructions to run 'dpkg --configure -a' - I opened a terminal below 'Accessories > Terminal', entered 'dpkg --configure -a', followed by 'Enter', was told that it necessary 'Superuser' priveleges - at the time, I was signed in as Admin - at this spot am feeling a little desperate - I think Synaptic may not be capable to run as it locked up the recent past when I demanded a Synaptic download-install of the eagle circuit board layout package - It locked up in the middle of the install.

    Default

At start of the Ubuntu download security updates based of settings in System→Administration→Software Sources [Updates] tab settings...

The locking mechanism avoids two unusual programs to create changes to the program database at the similar time.

There can be a delayed program or else a background undertaking locking the database. At foremost you ought to restart the PC. That will stop all running processes locking the db.

If the fault still continue try to run the "sudo dpkg --configure -a".

There is one fixation troubling me: "Resource temporarily unavailable" means that the file system can not be accessed suitably. Is it a network mounts or else can the filesystem be damaged?
