My motherboard is ASUS P4S800-MX as well as my sound card is Creative Vibra 128. I can boot both Windows 2000 Professional or else Ubuntu 9.04 (with updates up to date). Ubuntu create sound in my speakers but I cannot record some sound by means of Applications -> Sound and Video -> Sound Recorder. There is no problem with recording sound in Windows 2000, and so the fault is not in the microphone. Certainly, when I tap the microphone while using Ubuntu a related tap comes in excess of the speaker; but the recording process does not save the sounds in either a temporary or else everlasting file. I did get as far as a reply on one setting, in that Ready at the lower left of the panel changed to Recording, but no sounds were recorded. After making additional changes I have forgotten what that setting was, but it did not in fact work anyhow. I notice that Play as well as Stop is grayed out in the panel, but they were not when there was a incomplete response.
Is there a driver to adjust the Creative sound card for Ubuntu 9.04? Otherwise is there some particular combination of preferences so that recording takes place and can be played back?
