Default Please assist me with Airgo Wireless Card on an Alienware M9700

    Hi,

I am new to Ubuntu as well as Linux but I work in IT with windows based systems. Unnecessary to speak I am having a vast trouble learning how to do things in Ubuntu other than windows 7 so I thought I would lastly take the plunge as well as switch to Ubuntu. But I can't find my MIMO Airgo wireless card to work as well as it’s really quite annoying. It worked with Window's XP no problem, how can I get it to work with Ubuntu 9.10?

I have read i might need to make use of NDI Swrapper but all tutorials I have found have failed.

Can somebody please help? Also I am no more then a concerning how Ubuntu works plus how to do things with this OS so please give your solution if possible.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,

Please first hook up your network card to the wireless router by an ethernet cable (also well-known as a LAN cable).

In order to collect essential troubleshooting details on your wireless card, please follow this process:

Step 1: Open Terminal from "Applications->Accessories->Terminal"

Step 2: Please copy-paste the subsequent command in Firefox into the Linux Terminal. Do NOT copy-paste from the Email message into the Terminal, as that will only copy PART of the command. The command STARTS with the remark sudo as well as ENDS with the word restart. So please copy-paste the ENTIRE command under from Firefox into a Terminal, and after that press the enter key, and after that type in your password when sudo asks for password, then press enter key one more time.

Step 3: Please post results (copy/paste terminal output) on this thread
    Regards,

*NOTICE* This driver will only work for 32-bit installations of linux im unaware of a 64 bit version of this driver existing anywhere.

    support(dot)alienware(dot)com/Support_Pages/Restricted_Pages/driver_downloads_processed.aspx?os=WXP&cat=6&manu= 54&item=883

    sudo apt-get install unshield
sudo apt-get install ndis????-gtk(cant exactly remember the package name)

    unzip *insert alienware zip name*
    unshield x data2.cab

    -------
The file you want is the tmimo3p.inf
load up ndiswrapper util and add this inf as your device driver, reboot when finished and you should be good to go.

Unfortunately I can't install nvidia drivers on my laptop with ubuntu now all i get is a black screen .
