    Default Download software package related to .exe file in windows

    Hi,

    I am fresh to Ubuntu OS. I am used to Windows. When I need software i download the .exe file to the local disk. I put in the .exe file from my local disk. When i don’t want that i shall uninstall that. But the.exe file I save for future use. When i once more need it. I set up it. Just once i download the software as well as uphold in my local disk. In similar way cant i save the .deb file in my local folder as well as install that even if i am not connected to internet. Can you please help me with this issue?

    Hello,

    If you are downloading software’s from their homepage, it's prone you are downloading .deb files, so presently continue them. If you are using Synaptic, there's a selection so it will be the .debs on your hard drive.

    Every time you download as well as set up Ubuntu packages using apt-get, aptitude, add/remove programs, adept manager or else Synaptic, and after that the .deb packages are reluctantly stored in the subsequent location:

    /var/cache/apt/archives

    You can physically set up the .deb files in that position by the dpkg command, but that can offer dependence problem. So it is not an excellent solution. If you want an offline backup copy of the downloaded .deb files, I guess you in fact want to make use of AptOnCd.
