Default Mobile modem stick not identified in Ubuntu 9.10

My Vodafone mobile modem stick is not being predictable by Ubuntu 9.10. It would emerge that Ubuntu sees it as a memory stick as well as not a modem. Any answers?

Possibly I require a patch program or else somewhat to find the thing functioning.

What makes you believe it's not being accepted? And show as a memory stick? I make out some modems include little disk space to hold drivers for windows.

Please add your dmesg after plugging in your mobile modem stick (is it USB) plus also paste the output of "lspci".
