I installed Avant Window Navigator in Ubuntu 9.10. It installed okay as well as I determined to decrease the key panel which caused them to equally occupy the same space, the OS froze and I had to do a hard boot.
When Ubuntu started the splash screen it freeze up plus I had to hard boot once more, this time I ran the safe mode as well as it restarted but freeze at the similar place.
I tried an older kernel, same thing.
I can't acquire the OS loaded to alter some preferences in AWN or else the major panel, I've just spent a lot of time tweaking Ubuntu 9.10 plus was receiving it on how I liked it.
What can I do to find my OS back to running situation? I'm a newbie so I don't know several commands in Linux shell, all I learned was older DOS up to 6.22 so it's all new to me. I don't like having to make use of the terminal to make changes to an OS, reminds me of older Microsoft products where the whole thing had to be entered to get it to run.
I tried using the "Fix Broken System" with Ubuntu 9.10 server but that was just as hopeless.
Please let me make out what, if something, I might be proficient to do to recover my system.
